Ingredients: 1/4 cup used coffee grounds (from your morning coffee), 1/4 cup sugar (white or brown), 2-3 tablespoons coconut oil (melted).
Cost estimate: ~$1 (essentially repurposing things you’d toss).
Benefits: This scrub will slough off dead skin and invigorate your senses. Coffee grounds provide a stimulating exfoliation and contain caffeine, which may temporarily firm the skin or reduce puffiness. Sugar crystals help scrub away dullness and will dissolve as you rinse (preventing over-scrubbing). Coconut oil moisturizes, leaving a light layer of hydration on your skin.
Instructions: In a bowl, mix coffee grounds and sugar. Add melted coconut oil and stir until you get a sand- like consistency. Use this scrub in the shower on wet skin. Gently massage a handful in circular motions on rough areas like your legs, arms, elbows, and knees. Avoid using on delicate facial skin (it’s a bit too harsh for that). Rinse off thoroughly – take care, as the oil can make the floor slippery. Pat skin dry. Your skin will feel incredibly smooth and have a light coffee aroma. Use 1-2 times a week. You can store any extra in a jar at room temp; if the coconut oil solidifies, just scoop some out and it will melt on contact with warm skin.
